I donít like driving the SL unless the top is down, it is primarily a nice weather car. Every once in a while the soft top goes up, usually when itís 90+ degrees and the wife is with me.

I am like others who have not had the hardtop on for more than a year....I am a tall guy, so even if it is not nice enough weather for top-down motoring I prefer the soft convertible top (and its extra headroom) to the hardtop..

Even though I only drivr the Red Roadster when there is absolutely no bad weather this side of the Rocky Mountains, the headroom with the top down is great!

Had the hard top on (a totally different ride) mid-November thru mid-March until New Mexico’s reliable springtime winds kicked in, so up went the soft top. Mercifully, the wind subsided, and I’ve been top down for a week, taking advantage of nice, rural drives in the evening. So nice, in fact, that the wifey has agreed to come along. And honestly, I can’t remember a more pleasant spring ritual than evening drives with my sweetie down a country road with the top down, listening to tin-canny sounding classic tunes on the original Becker radio (thanks, cush).

Since I bought her over a year ago, this SL has been anything but effortless, but without question, worth it all.
