Nice meeting with you last week.
Glad you like them.
It does transform the looks especially with Euro bumpers.
The Euro headlights were a much quicker install than the Euro bumpers.
Hope to see you at the MBCA R107 GTG.

I shined her up because she's going to be on TV... again.

So a few weeks ago the local Mercedes club (who KNEW there was such a thing) sent an urgent request from a new TV miniseries being filmed locally that needed 80's cars. That week looked good work-wise so I said OK. Long story short, my baby's gonna be in a murder scene, filmed over three days. And today they asked if I could bring her back mañana, this time for more $. Being a practical man, I said OK. Mostly, I needed ammo for when my wife says I spend too much on her, I can say yeah but does YOUR car earn any money??

Here she is in a lineup of other 80's cars that were used that week. Man, when I bought this car I never knew what an adventure she would be!

Just came in from the garage after the first power up of the (original) restored Becker, new Amp, antennea front and rear speakers and Bluetooth kit in the car.

Very pleased with the results - Becker sounds amazing when it's tuned to a solid FM station, and the sound quality/detail was incredible playing from USB (where I keep a ripped copy of around 500Cds). Tested it with 'Autobahn' by Kraftwerk, as that seemed kind of appropriate...sounds like it might be missing a little base though, but that might improve once all the interior is in the car - if not, might fit a small sub.

Returned to Canada last weekend.
Today my plan is to start my 300D and take it for a short drive. It is blocking access to my 350SL.
So most I will do is have a quick look at SL. Maybe re-attach battery cable.
Then get back to watching Master's on TV! Then work on my taxes.
Still too cold here for SL.

It wasn't today, but a few weeks ago I replaced the Brazil leather upholstery on my seats.
I've done a few vintage Mustangs with vinyl upholstery over the years, but leather and the fastening system is a little different to work with so PanzerPuffs video was very helpful. My car also has heated seats and it was a bit challenging to fish the old heater elements into the new upholstery, but it turned out well. I'm very happy with the upholstery and service from TopsOnLine (I also bought a new Robbins Twillfast top on that order which I plan to install later this year).

Today I got another step closer to getting my 107 back on the road. I swapped out my single row timing chain engine for an engine out of a 500SEC last year and ever since having been working to finish the job. We've had a lot of rain here in California this year and the car has been sitting outside, with no hood on it. A couple of weeks ago I put oil in it and when I took the cap off, I found that the cam lobes were rusty. I have run into one snag after another with this project, so why should the snags go away now? I stripped ebolt on each of the cam towers while trying to take them out. Got one out last week and got the other out today. Started cleaning up the first cam and found that one of the lobes is pitted. I'm not going to take any chances with it so it's off to a cam shop on Monday. Once I get them back in I hope it will just be another week or two before the first test drive.
