Ignition lead insulating hose N 040621 022200

Hello fellow Mercedesians,

Iíll be replacing ignition leads soon in my M117 V8, and while at it Iíd like to replace the insulating hoses as they are, quite literally, cooked. I think the part is NLA (pending confirmation from dealer) and so I wonder if anyone know of equivalent MB part or perhaps can recommend an aftermarket hose? Iíve searched online but wasnít able to find a black rubber look-alike so Iíll appreciate any thoughts you might have.

This dealer shows still available https://www.mercedespartsdelivered.c...=040621+022200

Are you assembling the wires yourself? If not I don't think you can get the covers on.
Kingsbourne and maybe some others sell the wire sets with the covers installed

Thank you Rowdie.

Nope, not assembling them myself.. Worst case I'll slice the new hose open, feed the leads through and then apply some insulation tape to close loop.

The current hose is just hard and brittle.

Nice surprise from the dealer - hoses available for €3.87 per piece so I took 4 - 2 for immediate replacement and 2 for a replacement in 10+ years' time

I'll post some pics when they've arrived.

I'm late to this party but I bought these 2 years ago because they have the sleeves installed.

I'm sure you will be able to remove one end of whatever ignition leads you have to install the sleeves; no experience with this though.

They're great value Brad, thanks for sharing - and numbered as well, that's a nice touch. I'd have gotten them except that I got a new set of leads for ca. $30 off a gent who doesn't need them (extra stock) so couldn't say no to that...

Thanks Rumb, I let the parts guy know about the 1m length as he reckoned they come in "pieces" rather than "meters" - based on that he ordered 4 units, but sure as hell I don't need 4 meters!

So the hose arrived, and the name is correct - it is a hose alright so I had to splice it in order to hide the leads in it. A bit of black insulation tape on either end did the trick.
