Sounds like a great trip Dave.

We spent some time in the Reston area outside DC for a convention a few years ago and included for a couple of days on the Washington Mall. The highlight of the trip though, was an afternoon at the Udvar-Hazy Center, which is the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum's annex at Washington Dulles International Airport. IMO a step up from the museum on the Mall.

It's easy to get to via the Silver line to Reston and then one of the Dulles bus routes which will drop you off right at the door!

I have always wanted to do a train vacation but haven't managed. Noting where you live and the NM stop, are you making a loop of the US? Should we be worried?

If it doesn't fit, force it.
If it breaks, it needed replacing anyhow.

If it looks doable we'll talk a little closer to time.

T-Minus 50 Days

Well life is change, so of course plans have changed a bit. Seems Dig needs to be in Utah while I'm in DC. The couple of extra DC days I'd meant to stay with him will now be spent with my cousin and her bunch near Harrisburg PA, so some Civil War sites will be on her agenda, I'm sure.

It's all good!

Got reservation confirmations for the US Capitol, Library of Congress, and Bureau of Engraving.

And apparently somebody at the Secret Service thinks I'm ok for a self guided tour of the White House.......

Dave,

Gettysburg is on the way and only about 40 miles from Harrisburg. It was a must-see for me and the new visitor's center is impressive.

Cheers,

genießen Sie die Fahrt
