Are those chrome wheel opening moldings parts of the AMG kit?

They actually match the ribbing or fluting of the lower rocker area of the body.
Not sure if it is an AMG kit, but the chrome wheel opening moldings are not part of it.
Check ebay prices on the headlights and bumper. You will be pleasantly surprised. Of course it all depends on the condition.

Thanks. Ya I already had that eBay “ah ha” moment...I edited my above post

Thanks for all the tips everyone.
This one may be too much to tackle for me, has some rust in the rear quarter dogleg areas as well.

Thinking this may be a nice euro donor car since all of those parts are good to excellent

The chrome arches are not AMG, just aftermarket bling.

Headlights, bumpers etc. may bring some money but it depends on condition. Wheels look like Centra brand. If you find the key for the center caps people are occasionally looking for them.

If a '72 it should be a 107.43 (350SL).

He's the Jackass from the Gas Monkey Garage TV show. He's well known for putting a battery in an old rust bucket that's been sitting around for 20 or 30 years, just to see if it starts.

Nobody gets out of this life alive.

I don't think it is "real" AMG, so to speak. The mid 1980s was a time where the home grown Grey Market importer business was in full swing. An enterprising hustler could find an oil wildcatter from Oklahoma or Texas who would put up $300,000 to buy a group of used 107s in Europe; ship them to Houston; get them Federalized near the port in Houston; drive them across Houston and remove all the USA lights and emissions stuff they just installed and put the stock Euro stuff back on; buy one of the "Bandit" AMG body kits made by any of the dozen dune buggy, Corvette, or hot tub manufacturing "Fiberglass Specialists" in the region; get it painted and installed, and they could net $7,000-$10,000 each in 1985 dollars.

In fact, one of guys involved in bringing 50 of them into Oklahoma and Texas (at one time) was in my shop this morning.

Those stories sound like pure bullshit today. But the World (and rules) were different then.
