Has Uro gotten better?

Didn't they get a MB contract awhile ago to produce some of their parts?

Just because you have a contract to produce parts for an OEM to OEM specs does not mean the stuff not sold to the OEM is the same quality.

Nor does it mean their stuff is all that great anyway. I seem to recall hearing that they were the supplier behind the harmonic balancer debacle.

If it's a cosmetic part or one that is not mission-critical AND it is easy to change AND the cost savings is dramatic, I'll spring for the URO. Otherwise, not at all. Well, I suppose if it was NLA, maybe then, but I still might look for a car in a salvage yard and take an old part over the URO.

I haven't heard that and I most definitely hope it isn't true!

Wow, so I guess they either were the only manufacturer willing to make a specific part for MB, or MB ran out of supplier options - highly doubt this one.

It just irks me that MB chose to use this manufacturer, that's all.

I wish we knew what parts are OEM quality. If it is still bad does that mean MB specs are bad? Also do you think if we go to the dealership would we get a URO made part?

Garage
One year in and the Uro squirrel cage (the second one because the first one was out of round) is still pumping air through the ducts in both summer and winter.

Even if Uro production quality were to miraculously rise to an acceptable level there remains the problem of older substandard parts in the pipeline with the purchaser never knowing what he was receiving. It appears that this well has been poisoned beyond redemption.
