Finally sunny, not raining and I started a 2 week vacation today.

To celebrate....I dropped the top and took The PIG on errands.

I already got a thumbs up from a 10 year old boy as I drove by.

I went topless again today. It was the best exposed driving experience of the season so far.

I took my 107 to a car show last night. I've been going to this Thursday night car show (in a Wendy's parking lot) for a few years and there's always a good turnout of mostly muscle cars. Last night was an exception to the rule... I spotted it as soon as I parked (away from the participants) and walked in. There it was... an absolutely gorgeous 450sl either gold or light brown (depending on your point of view) with chrome Bundt rims. Everything looked perfect right down to the flawless wood finish. Of course the top was down.

I told the owner that I had an '83 380sl but I didn't point it out in the distance. His 450 made my 380 look like it belonged back home under a tarp.
Don't ask me why I didn't think to take a picture. It's not like I didn't have my iPhone in my pocket... I must have been brain dead at the time. If he's there next Thursday I'll be sure to get a picture.

Nobody gets out of this life alive.

We already know that you are REALLY old.

We make exceptions for that here.

You can't buy happiness but you can buy a 107... and that's kind of the same thing. Remember that your car is supposed to be your therapy, not the reason you need therapy.

This past Father's Day my two oldest daughters came to the house to pay homage to dear old dad. I was feeling nostalgic so I asked them if they wanted to take a ride in the 107 and they said sure. When they were just 4 and 5 years old I used to take them for rides around the block in the 107 with the top down and they loved it. They would sit there and wave to the neighbors and giggle as we drove by.

That was 24 years ago and back then they both fit in the one seat, but not anymore. One at a time was all we could handle on Sunday. My wife and I have lived in the same house for the past 30 years so the drive around the cul-de-sac was like a trip down memory lane, for me anyway. The girls said they remembered but I'm not so sure how much they actually remembered versus how much I filled them in about what they used to do and say at the various places along the nearly 1 mile slow drive around the cul-de-sac.

It was great to drive my kids around the block again after all those years, but it was a stark reminded of just how short life is.

Not quite a drive, but...
Monika has been sitting in the garage next to BH for the past couple weeks. Of course ever since I got her out of storage it has rained...
Anyway, over Father's Day weekend my son, his wife and my grandson (The Sprout) were at the house.
Now The Sprout is a toddler gearhead. He LOVES trucks, trains, airplanes, and "Gampaws caw". he sat in Monika for at least 30 minutes at a time driving it in the garage. 30 minutes is like a year when you are less than 2! He had to look in the engine bay of both cars, look at BH closely - he was not allowed in BH since the interior is mostly out, but the highlight was driving Monika. He figured out the shifter and ran her through the gears more than once! Good thing the garage is level and the parking brake was on!
Monika even loved the attention as her clock started to work!
