think what you want ,we have two original car with docs from mb, there are only 3 cars alive from the 4 , the chassis nrs are wdb10704612000291 crash duiring testing and destroid wdb10704612000536 is in mercedes classic center stuttgart. and
we have wdb10704612000431 and wdb10704612000438

The rally sl500 photo that I posted is NOT in the MBZ museum in Germany, thats a 500slc in the museum.

Sorry to hijack my own thread, but Mauri, how was Melbourne? Enough drama for you? Any chance of of seeing some of the photos?

How often do you get back over here?

Nice to see a Mercedes 1 - 2, even better to see it not in a McLaren chassis! (I'm not a fan of McLaren I'm afraid, they seem to be a bit low on integrity for my liking!)

To Fotograra. The Melbourne GP was fantastic for MBZ, wait till next year,we may see a all AMG F1, that was the buzz around the pits.
I'm in Melb around June-July again.
The foto is part of my workshop in Melbourne.

That shouldn't be too surprising. The "plastic" part almost certainly refers to the rear and side windows. In a rally car, they would have replaced all the glass with Lexan (polycarbonate) due to its significantly lighter weight and greatly improved shatter resistance.

I'm guessing they would have kept the stock glass windshield since, like the BMW E30 M3, it's bonded to the frame and contributes to chassis stiffness.
