1987 560SL for Sale

I have a nice '87 with a little over 50k miles for sale. We just don't use the car and it's time for it to find a new home. We bought it several years ago and I did a lot of maintenance work to the front suspension and sub-frame mounts, cam chain guides, and too much to list here. I have the hard top and I had a new GAHH soft top installed. I can e-mail my maintenance log with a list of all the work I've done to the car.

I'm asking $25k.

I tried to upload my Maintenance Log with everything I've done to the car, but it's too big to fit here. I just put a new set of Continental tires and a new battery in the car. Let me know if you're interested, and I'll e-mail the info to you.

Over 100 views and no replies?? This car has had all the "big stuff" done to it and it's ready for someone to enjoy this spring! Maybe the $25k price is too much. I'll reduce my asking price to $22K if that helps get it sold. Make me a reasonable offer.

I saw your ad with the listed price and automatically assumed it had a trashed out interior or rust problems.

No rust. It's lived in Tulsa all its life. I'd wager it hid in the garage in bad weather and has never even seen snow or ice. It could use a driver's seat back cover, but the rest of the interior is nice.

Just checked the “Bring a Trailer” auction site. Current active auction - 1986 560SL 56k miles $19250 with 3 days to go.

Wow! I've never used Bring A Trailer, but I might try it if the car doesn't sell here in a few days. Thanks for the info!!

I used Bring A Trailer to try to sell my 1978 450Sl just a few months ago. The results were awful. My 450 is in fantastic condition and all I got were bids from 'flippers'. Your 560SL, if it's in the kind of condition you're talking about, certainly is worth a hell of a lot more than you're asking. The market for 107 roadsters is weird. What we have here is a world full of people who just want to buy and sell. They have little if any appreciation for the car. They just want to buy it cheap and sell it high. Have patience. List it once in a while on Ebay or your local MB club. Eventually, someone who really appreciates it, will come along. I'll keep mine until they bury me rather than sell it to some person who is in the game just to make money. Maybe that's what the world has come to, but if so, I'm not going to be a part of it.

Your '78 450SL and his 560SL are polar opposites in terms of desirability in 107s.

Is this still available? I'm interested and would like to chat with you about your car Jim if so.
