Looks like a winner. I would sand a rounded fillet in the corner of that cut groove to make sure there are no stress risers to start a crack eventually.

And make sure it’s a large enough gap to get a socket on there when time comes to replace the links.

I had a new rear sway bar link laying around (from a project on a early 450) so figured I'd do a quick check. Sure enough... bar is way too thick at the mounting point. I was thinking that since these were supposed to be for a 380, maybe the 380 had a different link than the earlier cars. The part number of the one I had is 115.320.15.89. According to our parts source, that link is used for all SL from 72-89. Modifying the bar doesn't seem like something we should have to do!

New Links

I spoke to Addco about the issue. They are going to make some custom links. From them:

"I think the best solution is for us to supply end links which allow the use of longer bolts. They would be adjustable end links with heim joints."

They have already ordered a link and should be working on it soon.

I did not ask if they would supply them to everyone. My guess is it will be a little extra.
