I used to dislike Notre Dame (mainly because of the Hail Mary passes that seemed to win the games for them) and would argue with my deceased father about them.

His point was that they would never compromise their athlete's lack of academic achievements to let them continue playing football. In retrospect, that is a difficult argument to win.

Go Tigers and the Fighting Irish!

In Louisiana our academic standards are so low that compromise is unnecessary.

Good one Botnst.

I attended Tulane for 2 years until my partying, and poor grades, forced them into giving me a second look. I went up to Baton Rouge with a dorm mate for an LSU game, and that was a helluva a spectacle (biggest football stadium I had ever been into).

I can't remember who they played, or who won that game, but being in Louisiana (and particularly New Orleans) are some of my fondest memories.

Tulane is a far more serious school. If you don't have a scholarship, you're paying some serious money -- Daddy wont like flunking at that price.

And in truth, LSU has cleaned-up it's act in most curricula, is a great deal within-state (good grades and good ACT scores result in a hefty scholarship for high school grads within state) but it still has some strange ways for matriculation and some "disciplines" that are probably of extraterrestrial origin.

Tiger Stadium is a trip. They have been tail-gating since Huey Long threw BBQ's for thousands of LSU fans.
