Trying to get MB Australia to honor a recall that was only required on a subset of R107s that was done in a foreign country?

Let alone on affected vehicles that are well past the 30 year old mark?

Sorry mate, not trying to be an arschloch. The frustration and annoyance of dealing with those nits would be better spent on paying someone to fix the issue outright.

There are more important battles to be fought.

isthisdave .

That is the replacement('86 or later) subframe just as is pictured in post one. Hence the 'closed', as in 'done'.

It looks like there is a part that has been welded on, but it doesn't match the images that I see on here for the official gusset reinforcement. The driver's side rear also has this.

The MB dealer says their computer just says "closed" for my VIN so they are not sure if the work was performed or not - they would have to research it.

Does it look like the reinforcement work has already been done by a past owner?

Thanks, Andy
Kinda looks like that subframe might be from a 560SL.
Either way...it looks re-enforced.

The repair or replacement in question is 'MBUSA Service Information Letter 33/001, Sub-frame Modification dated 11/1/85'.

Lay that on them.

My cost was for worn bushings, lower ball joints, adjusting steering box to remove excess play, etc. etc..
The cruise control recall parts are no longer available and could not be done.
