rudeney Hopefully others with that engine will chime in. You might also check some other forums with cars that use that same engine to see if members there are reporting issues. Unfortunately, I have no experience with that, so I won't be of any help. I'm just the coupe/convertible forum moderator and wanted to say welcome.

cartunes25 HI Rodney,

Thanks for your reply. It is under a CPO warranty. I was hoping to get some insight as to what could be wrong or if this is a common issue with the M278.

rudeney Welcome to the forum! Please take a moment to visit the User Control Panel and update your profile to include your car model and year, and your location (at least country). This information will then appear below your name and avatar on the left side panel next to each post you make. This will greatly help others to give you better information. If you are using the mobile version of the site, you will need to switch to the "full" version to get to the User Control Panel.

Is it still under warranty? If not, find a good indy shop to work with. The dealers are not only often wrong, they are incredibly overpriced.

Turbo failure

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping that there is someone here which can explain this issue. My 2012 CLS550 was very loud when it is first started, even after warmed up it would tick and rattle like a bad valve. It has been at the dealer for the past two weeks. They told me that both turbos are faulty and need to be replaced. I asked the SA why do the turbos need to be replaced and are the replacements going to have the same issue and the guy could not answer me.

Is anyone aware of what is failing with the turbo to warrant a replacement and are the new ones revised to fix this flaw?

Could this be misdiagnosed or also have the timing chain tensioner issue?

Should I just get rid of this car?
