How to embed attached photos and not show them below the post?

Please make this a sticky to replace the two outdated stickies on posting images.

Do you want to create a DIY tutorial with photos like this one? Here's how to upload and embed photos within the text of a post AND prevent them from being shown under "Attached Images" at the bottom of the post.

Use the tag! attachmentid#[*attach] replacing * with /

Start a new thread. Near the bottom of the page, click "Manage Attachments".
Attachment 2446655

In the new window, click "Browse" to select a file on your computer. You may choose up to five images at a time. Then click "Upload" to upload them. You can add more than five images by repeating this process.
Attachment 2446657

Once uploaded, right click on the image link and choose "Copy Link Location" or whatever the analog is in your browser.
Attachment 2446659

Switch back to the window with the post you're composing. Put the cursor where you want the image to appear. Type . Delete everything from the link except the number immediately following "attachmentid=".

In your completed thread, the embedded attachments are automatically resized to 500 x 375. Clicking them brings up an image viewer. Right clicking the image (in the thread) to save it or open it in a new tab will show it at its full resolution.
