But who am I to say no to a GTG?

I didnít make the GTG, but...
I have been doing some ďalignmentsĒ with alignment plates that a neighbor has for his drift cars. Iíve borrowed them so many times, heís suggested I buy my own. They are $64, and basically two sheets of aluminum. No degree markings. So if you want to calculate degrees, get ready for some trigonometry.

The extra $136 for turntables seems like money well spent. Iíd be interested in trying them or hearing Roncalloís opinion of them.
My 280sl (5-speed, like Nobbyís, but basically irrelevant to the topic) makes a crazy clacking noise when I brake in reverse with any significant speed. Itís a really rare occurrence that Iím driving in reverse with any significant speed, so itís hard to make an issue of it, but itís a real ďWTF was that!?!?Ē when it happens. Maybe I will see if I can get a video. Itís pretty surely the brakes. (With the 560sl air dam and 225/50/16 on et11, I will get tire rubbing when turning in reverse, but Iím pretty confident this is a whole different issue.)

I had a significant vibration between 60 and 70 MPH which made me remove all 4 wheels for balancing. ALL of them were off...as I had them spin the wheels with the current weights just to see what was what.
I predicted one of the front wheels would be bad and I was right. Yea for me.
So all balancing done and whilst the wheels were off and the car was in the air....I checked the tie-rods.....not a mark on them. No vise grips used!
AND I developed a bit of a brake squeak backing up and a very low parking lot type speeds.
So I removed the NEW front pads, chamfered the edges, applied some MN brake paste (which I did not have at John's) and slapped it all back together....did the same on the rears.
Squeaking gone. Vibration gone.

I don't even like having a gas jockey fill my tank. Just the other week I allowed a gas station attendant to fill my car. As I drove away I thought I smelled gas and by the time I got home it was very noticeable. I opened the gas cap door only to find that the gas station guy didn't put the cap on right, only one ear on the cap was engaged and gas was spilling out the cap and running down the drain on the inside. Good grief... you can't even trust others to put the gas cap on right.
