Just get a mityvac, pump it 10 times and sit back and relax.
Don't forget to remove the filter so that you get everything from the filter housing.
Nice write-up though!

BTW, Those FCP oil kit prices included free shipping. For coolant, I just pick up Zerex G05 at NAPA - same as MB coolant used originally on W210. Cheap too.

WOW. I tough only Scotch is so much more expensive in Canada
When shopping for parts - bare in mind that when internet supplier do have smaller markups, they also have to add shipping (this way, or the other).
When I was buying MB coolant, I check trusty autohousaz and local dealer come cheaper when I ask for discount (although I had to drive for it).
One more time, when extracting the oil, try to use dipstick tube as it will speed up the flow comparing to small hose stick inside.
Will probably pick up more as well.

Saw this oil change kit on FCP Euro. Includes 8L of a Fuchs Pentosin 5W40 synthetic, Mann filter and even a washer for the drain plug for $62.99 incl free shipping. They also have Genuine MB and another oil brand (Rowe) but it costs more and not one I have heard of!
The Pentosin oil is Pento High Performance II and meets MB spec 229.51. FCP says in one place that it does and another that it does not fit my 98 W210 E320! Bevo 223.2 is supposed to tell us which oil for which engine, but doesn't seem to have older models.
They also have a kit with Genuine MB 229.5 oil and filter for $71.99.
Doesn't help us in Canada, but may be worth ordering when I visit USA?
In Canada, Mobil 1 0W40 costs C$50/4.4L at Walmart! In USA US$25.47 for 5qts (4.7L) I have in past bought 2 jugs in USA plus a filter here - Total about same as FCPs Pentosin.
