Silicone spray will lubricate the rubber and keep it quiet. It gets everywhere, though, and the overspray is difficult to clean up. At work we use Simple Green Insdustrial to clean up silicone contamination.

There's a rubber gasket that wraps around the instrument cluster and keeps it in place. The first time I removed mine, the tape (duct tape?) that had been holding it in place was shot and wouldn't hold it there any more. It had turned into a gummy mess and a scrap of weave and plastic. I cleaned it all up, laid the rubber gasket out flat and sprayed it with a spray-on adhesive, then wrapped it around the instrument cluster the way it was supposed to be. It hasn't come loose since and the piece stays in place when I put it in.

Dash creaks & rattles

The first long drive has brought out a 'chorus' of new cabin noises. Most are like 'creaks' that seem to be from lower dash (both sides) and the instrument binnacle.
All that plastic/vinyl rubbing against each other may be a 70's fetishists wet dream, but its turning me off

Various mechanics have had dash parts off and so i suspect basic fit and mounting isn't great.

1) Do any of the manuals depict how the dash parts should be mounted?

2) Does anyone know of a lubricant product that could be applied between these 'rubbing' surfaces to keep them silent?

3) The Instrument/gauge binnacle seems to move forward during driving! How is this supposed to be kept in place?
