if you're getting no pressure then remove the vacuum hose from the regulator on the fuel rain and check if there is no gas escaping from there
if that's good then remove the plastic cover that's under the car in front of the rear tire on the passenger side and that's where the fuel pumps and the filter is.
check if both pump are priming/running

new to me 1992 400se fuel issues???
just picked up this car today. the p/o went blind 10 yrs ago and had not started since then. he started it up before I got there (w 10 yr old fuel) and it seemed to run fine. ran it down the rd. ran well.
I bought the car and drove 1 mile to gas station. filled up and it wouldn't start. tried and tried, finally started but died as soon as I put in reverse.
got the car towed hm. it started again after a while but would not idle. im hoping its the fuel lift pump. do they work intermitantly sometimes?
no fuel pressure to the rail when I crank it over
