Johann DT Hello Johnny,

Welcome ... especially with your RED 107!

My 1978 450SL was also resprayed from brown to red by a previous owner. I think it had something to do with Bobby Ewing's "Dallas" car at the time!

The engine compartment was sprayed black and it was one helluva job changing it to red without removing the motor.

We bought the car 14 years ago, did a 200km test drive and went off on a 4000km round trip a few weeks later. All it needed when we got home was about ¼ litre oil top-up.

Greetings from Cape Town
Johann

Johnny van Bergen Hi Rick

That was one of the first things i had done last year. All looked good. That made me very happy.

rick Great that you have the dual timing chain conversion-- but-- How long ago was that? The plastic chain guides age and become brittle. If they break, it is just as bad as a timing chain breaking. If you have service records, that will help, if not - - - Pull a valve cover and look at one of them. They start out almost a white color become a very ugly yellow with time.
