Indy 500 qualifying: Full results, starting order for 2019 race

Indy 500 qualifying: Full results, starting order for 2019 race

https://www.sportingnews.com/us/indy...e1rclmx2wh0k4t

Qualifying for the Indy 500 in 2019 is basically a massive tease. Not only does qualifying for the Indy 500 take place a week before the race itself, but the qualifying format for 2019 splits three sessions across two full days.

So even though qualifying for the Indy 500 began Saturday, May 18, we did not know who would start on the pole for the 2019 Indy 500 - or who would be bumped from the field - until late Sunday afternoon.

The Indy 500 qualifying process began Saturday, May 18 with a qualifying session that began at 11 a.m. ET and ran through 5:50 p.m. ET. All 36 cars that have entered to qualify for the Indy 500 were guaranteed at least one qualifying attempt, each of which was four laps, and multiple four-lap runs were allowed as time permitted. This quaifying session set positions 10-30 in the 33-car field for the Indy 500. The cars that qualified in these spots were locked into place and did partake in the qualifying sessions Sunday.

NBC Sports Gold showed the majority of Saturday's Indy 500 qualifying session. For the last hour, starting at 5 p.m. ET, NBCSN carried the action.

On Sunday, May 19, last row qualifying took place live on NBC. This session set positions 31-33 for the Indy 500. Then, Fast 9 qualifying, which also was shown live on NBC, set the first three rows, including the pole, for the Indy 500.

A breakdown of the Indy 500 qualifying format is below.

Day Time Positions set How to watch
Sat. 11 a.m. - 5:50 p.m. ET 10-30 NBC Sports Gold/NBCSN/fuboTV
Sun. 12 p.m. ET 31-33 NBC/fuboTV
Sun. 1:15 p.m. ET 1-9 NBC/fuboTV
A total of 36 cars entered for a chance to make the 33-car field for the Indy 500. Fernando Alonso, Patricio O'Ward and Max Chilton were bumped from the field during last row qualifying Sunday.

The starting lineup for the 2019 Indy 500 is below.

McLaren has lost touch with reality.

I saw the news about them "parting" with Indy on my Indy phone app.

Bruce is probably rolling over in his grave. It is not the way a once dignified company would or should have handled it.

If I was one of their F1 sponsors I would be telling McLaren to stuff it for future funding.

to do nothing with one's ability, for I feel that life is measured in achievement, not in years alone.”

The new Brazilian president is pushing Petrobras to get out of their still several more years to run run sponsorship deal with McLaren.
Even Alonso is left looking a bit stupid after 'triple crown' this and that (i can't be the only one who got sick of hearing it), instead of approaching Indy 500 lowkey, with a bit of humility and perhaps expressing hope of one day winning.
There should be quite a bit of 'Schadenfreude' going on behind the scenes (roughly translates to experiencing joy from the misfortune of others).

Check out this McLaren trash fest

OMG, I had not seen the articles yet that you posting links for.

It is hard to fathom WTF McLaren is thinking with all of these humiliating blunders stacking up.
Maybe 3-4 wrongs make a right?

Simon has just had an amazing month.

His win in the Indy GP to catch and pass Dixon in wet conditions from nearly 30 seconds back with the laps winding down was one of the best drives of the year in any series I watch.
The wet driver training Peugot had their drivers go through clearly paid some dividends in the Indy GP. The other Penske cars were just horrible for the GP race.

He nabs the pole at the 500 and puts in a gritty run there. He and Rossi made for one of the more entertaining 500s in the new Indy car era...IMO
