The W140 chassis was best in its time but if you compare it to the newer/technologically advanced ones then w140 is no more but primitive.

I didn't necessarily call the W140 chassis bad, I merely stated it was very outdated design for the year 2012. In fact, I prefer the W140 to the upcoming W222 (Next Gen S-Class). Aside from that fact, you basically bought a W140 with carry overs from a W220, R230, and W215. The navigation is easily recognizable in my grandma's 2003 ML500.

Maybach just wasn't high tech enough to justify its competition because it didn't look as nice as a Phantom, it wasn't as bespoke as Phantom, it didn't come with fancy coach doors like the Phantom, and with the release of the Ghost, it wasn't as fast as a Ghost. I sure as hell would buy a 62S anyways just because it's more exclusive and because it isn't as prominent as a Phantom/Ghost (I'm not into public attention, and I can actually drive it in the ghetto without getting shot at because everyone will think it's just a used Mercedes-Benz S-Class).

The breadth of the stupidity of the comments in these Maybach threads is apparently boundless.

You can admire a W140 (I have one) but building a new car around an old chassis is criminal.
