2006 E320 CDI
I just bought a lovely 2006 pewter E320 CDI Pre-Certified from a New Jersey dealer. Nice car, great power. I finally had enough of my '91 BMW M5 and its hard ride after 170,000 miles (or I should say my wife did). I wanted economy but hated to give up power after the M5. Tried the new BMW 335d, what a drivetrain, fabulous power, but too hard and a bit small; the Audi A4 with the 2L, nice engine, but too much money for the car.
I just put new new 17" BBS RG 718 Diamond black wheels on it (these 18 lb BBS alloys really improve braking) with new Bridgestone Potenza Pole Position WR rated (much better than the Conti Contacts) and added the Kleeman KD-Box, which really makes it pop when downshifting.
Question however for you long term owners. I want to tighten up the ride a bit without making it BMW hard, too much dive and role at 80mph. The Bilstein ECR and PSS9 systems are pricey and I'm not sure how comfortable the "comfort" setting is; Koni FSD is a possibility with some mixed reviews at Tire Rack. Other ideas? And brakes? Any easy improvements with my 17" wheels? Don't want to go bigger and sacrifice ride and pay through the nose for Brembos. And I'm still under warranty so hesitate to do too much yet I guess
