block imperfection need sealant for vcg

posted a thread on 209 clk but I am looking for as many opinions as possible (see clk55 fuel line disconnect). Repairing a leak on valve cover I discovered an
imperfection, a divet/channel that starts on the outer edge of the engine block extends across 75% of the surface the gasket will set on, approx. 2mm wide by
1mm deep and 3mm long. I need sealer in this area along the gasket. I have ordered the MB black sealant but I am having seconds thoughts as many claim
these types of silicon sealants do not last. I also cannot confirm compatibility with a rubber gasket. I have also come across an aviation site that suggest Loctite
rubber gasket sealant 2. The performance bikers and even racing sites recommend yamabond. This is all new to myself and there is just so much conflicting
literature out there. I'm shooting for the best result I can achieve. I intend to invest some time/effort in the prep work of course.
Appreciate some opinions from your knowledge/experience.
