Injection pump/ran out of fuel

Hi,i have a mercedes e290 turbodiesel and i just ran out of fuel but went to a gas station and buy some fuel and go back to the car but the car is not working which i suspect it might be because of air in the injector but i cannot find where the injector is, can someone help ?

What year and engine model is it?
290 diesels never made it to America, when we have just few members from other countries.
If that is a car model with saddle tanks and transfer pump, you need to put about 8 gallons of fuel to prime the pump.
