R320 relay problem-please help

I found that after I shut the car off the other day, the air suspension compressor continued to run. It’s night time, so I pull the fuse and head to advance auto parts for a relay (all that’s open) I pull the relay after I park and hand it to the guy at the counter and give him all the info about the car and he give me a “match” I pop it in and pull it out just as fast because there a pop and a small puff of smoke beside the wiper on off relay (a few down the line). I put the old relay back in and the compressor is not running. It instead gives a rising malfunction. I buy a new relay from MB this morning and pop it in, with the good relay in, the car will start but only run a moment. The Compressor kicks on and of as it should. Removing the new relay and reinstalling the old one, the car will run but gives the rising malfunction and no compressor. There is a high pitch whine and finally a click after shutting the car off that will stop after pulling the relay for terminal 87. I’d really like for the compressor to run as it should and the car run...

Junk yard fuse panel/relay panel repaired the problem.

I pulled it the instant I put it in. After installing the replacement engine compartment fuse/ relay box, I disassembled the original, there was a broken melted trace on the board. I will repair the trace and reinstall the original part and put the other one on eBay. I was told The box was unrepairable and would need to be thrown out. This is not the case, if you have basic soldering skills and some experience working on printed circuit boards, this is an easy repair.
