Does the om61x have “bolt pattern brothers”?

Hello everybody.

Please excuse me, im still learning about benz motors.

So we know the 615 616 and 617 all have the same engine to transmission bolt pattern, right? Its one of their family traits.

However, how far foreward does that bolt pattern lineage go?

Are there newer motors that share that same bolt pattern?

Before i started playing with benzes, i played with volkswagens, where there are several prolific families of 4 cyl motors, the most common one actually has the same bolt pattern from the 1970s to the 2000s. Obviously the engines advanced by 3 or 4 generations by then, but they never redesigned the transmission bolt pattern so they share it.

Does this phenomenon happen with benzes, and if so does anybody have a list of motor families sharing the 61x bolt pattern?

Thanks

MB engines are not easy to interchange, mostly due the ECU adaptation.
That said after reading for years about failed attempts, now you can find engine swap topic in W210 section.
Few members have success story to tell.

Hi.

Im sure there are many other difficulties but from strictly a bolt pattern perspective between the motor and the trans, what fits?
