Question NEW to M273. OIL LEAK burning off exhaust at idle.

Good Morning CLS forum,

Its a pleasure to be posting here since owning a CLS is great feeling. Had the CLS550 for year and couple months fun car to drive and zippy.

Moved to a different city the roads potholes here are bigger then the wheels themselves. Have to change the bearing so the car is parked in the garage and have been for couple of days since i am waiting on the Hub assembly w/bearings pressed already. In Kentucky atm according to FedEx.

This morning decided to run the car and after 4 minutes of idling smelt burn oil open hood and there was blue smoke beside the dipstick. Something i have smelt on long traffic lights at rush hour other then that you don't smell it or see it. but also this is my girlfriend/fiances daily since i drive W163.

Last month i have replaced the lungs(air filters) so i decided to remove the rib cage that holds the air filters to take a closer look and take some pictures so you well informed crowd point me in the right direction!

Any help with issue would be awesome!

3rd picture is the culprit what is the name of that part?

Thank you in advance!

PS.

still looking for an app for iPhone so i can quickly reply instead of using my macbook or mobile safari.

Crankcase breather part # 2730100162 & cover 2720100631. Most likely gasket has failed and cover, which incorporates gasket, needs replacement. Plug & play replacement.

SUPER! ops caps on

Thank you very much for your input sir! You are a gentlemen and scholar!

I see so just replace the cover great i can definitely do that! Just need to source the part now for cheap and that ships to the big great cold north. Unless you think its best to go to the dealer for the part?

Regards,

B

Called the dealer in the area. So i am assuming M272 V6 and M273 V8 share the same crankshaft breather part?2720100631

2720100631 available in the dealer for 91 CAD dollars $

and they have 4 in stock. Whoop

2730100162 says its in Toronto and some oil pan and he said it wasn't the gasket. not sure.

2720100631 for $91 dollars getting it now and replacing it right away and forgeting about it would be nice.

just wonder if 2730100162 is gasket or parts guy messed up on something.

I also found one on eBay

Awesome got the part managed to get genuine for $77 cad plus tax after chatting with parts guy. The breather has gasket inside the cover. Perfect time to install it and forget about for good. Probably should replace cabin air filters because they are probably stunk up with burning oil
