Updating Control Modules equaled AMAZING RESULTS
In order to fix a Central Gateway issue I bought the knock off Xentry package (sub $400) and an online access key for sixty bucks so I could do online SCN recoding. Downloading and installing an update for the Central Gateway fixed the issue. So I decided to poke around to see what other updates were available while I had access.
Much to my surprise there were updates for, ECU, Sound System, TCU, Motor Electronics, left front DCU, Electric Steering, ESP, COMAND aps, and 1 or 2 others I forget now.
I decided to go for it and update everything possible. Six and a half-7 hours later (NO JOKE) the process was complete. The results are AMAZING, it feels like a new car-More MPG, better shifting, stiffer steering, stereo is superb.
Production date on my car is 03/14. I would assume info above would apply to any W218 produced before 04/14. IDK how far forward in production date the info applies. I didn't see any release dates on any of the updates except for the TCU, which was released on 07/18.
Bottom line I would strongly suggest anyone with access to the above mentioned hardware perform the same process.
PS you will need a fully charged jump box or high output battery charger. Some of the updates take 45 minutes to an hour to install. If battery voltage drops below 11.5 during the flash process theres a good chance you will be effffed.
