Mercedes CL55 CL65 or CL500

Hi

I recently fell in love with this Mercedes and may wanna buy one. I'm hesitating between these three models and I was hoping someone would tell me the main differences - evolution - I should say, over the years

I understand that we are talking about three different engines so I m interested in options and improvements over the year.
Also the big question CL500, CL55 or CL65? I don't race but like the sporty looks of the CL55 and 65

Of course, I read about the ABC issues that is why I will buy an aftermarket warranty

Terry

If money is no object. Find a 2006 CL65 AMG. Last year made and the 65 is a monster. However, the cost of ownership is very high even on a CL500. Especially if you do not do your own work.
CL500- 5.0 V8 302bhp
CL55 AMG- 2001-2002 V8 N/A
CL55 AMG 2003-2006 470BHP SC V8
CL65 2005-2006 6.0 V12 610BHP TT Engine. Detuned could be a 200mph car.
CL600 5.5 V12. Softest, most luxurious of the bunch.

Find a 2006 Since it is the last year. Get a pre purchase inspection. Have the ABC Looked at and of course find a good local shop for when you cannot do the work. If you can find a warranty? Keep in mind these were 6 figure cars when new. My 2006 CL600 was $130,000 brand new. The upkeep is still that of a 6 figure car even thou the cost of entry is much lower.

Proud owner of an 06 65. I love the car. But honestly its a bit of a pucker factor wondering what evil it has planned. Fuel mileage usually doesnt bother me, but since this car resides in Cali, I am having to reevaluate. I think like they say: if money isnt an issue, 65. But if your want the performance that is most of the 65s, get a 55. A bit more reliable I imagine, but of course with its own issues...(like all of em)
I truly enjoy the exclusivity and realization I have a 'daily supercar' that is actually very rare. It also doesnt command too much unwanted attention, but it does command respect. All for less than what the taxes were on it a decade and change ago. Pull the trigger. The bark of the 12 when you start it is such a joy and reward every time.

Thank you so much for the replies. I live in California so we cant detune a car, too many restrictions, I'm considering a CL55 or CL65 but it would have to be a low mileage one and for sure I would purchase a warranty, in fact, a dear friend of mine owns a warranty company so that may come handy But honestly if I could find a very low mileage cl500 I may go for it
