Remove Glove Box Lid From Hinges

Hey all, I have an 02 CL500 that I'm bringing back to life. The glove box lid won't stay closed because the latching mechanism is broken in the lid

I've purchased a used glove box assembly (lid, hinges, and "box"), but I'm trying to figure out how to remove the tan glove box "top" (outer portion you see when sitting in the passenger seat) from the assembly. My interior is designo black and the replacement lid is tan. I want to transfer the outer black portion to the used assembly.

I can't see any screws holding the outer lid to the subframe of the glove box door.

Can anyone help me?

I used a plastic welder to fuse the broken plastic back together. Its been holding for a few years now. Not enough material like many parts in the interior and trunk.

I suspect the tan cover is glued to the lid, just as the top of the rear armrest top is glued to that. Would black paint do the job?
