Should I buy it?

Greetings,
I found an 03 CL55AMG for under $7000, Body and interior in good shape, it has 171K on the odometer. It is for sale at a "buy here, Pay here " lot. NO service records. What should I look for that may be be indigenous to these cars?

Thanks in advance for your input.

I've learned through experience that there is nothing more expensive than a "cheap" Mercedes. I also get nervous whenever there are no service records. That in mind, I don't have specifics that are indigenous to this model but I would do the following:

1. Pull a CarFax or AutoCheck report with the VIN number

2. Call your local Mercedes dealership with VIN number in-hand and ask them to send you a Vehicle Master Inquiry (should be free). They can email it to you and that will show you all the records from when it was serviced at a dealership.

3. Ask the lot if you can take it for a few hours to a Mercedes dealership or a reputable indy Mercedes mechanic and have them do a FULL inspection. You might spend a few hundred $$ on the inspection, but that could potentially prevent you from having to spend thousands later, or at least you'd know what work you'll need to have done.

4. Keep in mind that it is a high mileage 14-year old car, and if you're okay with the results from 1-3, enjoy the car and have fun with it!
