Air filter housing

So I was scanning scrap yards online in Sweden for interesting clk parts and I found a amg 500 -04 air filter housing/engine cover. It look like a direct fit, does it? And if it fits would I get any gains from that one? I’ve read something about a modification you could do to your existing housing to let it allow more air, and I’m thinking an amg 500 would for sure need more air than an 320 😊

One thing I have done in the past is to look up the part number of each and see if they are the same.

I have a 320 and a 55 AMG and there is no difference between the two , apart from the AMG being longer to feed 8 cylinders and the other 6..
Air intake dimensions and the actual air filters are exactly the same.

I have never seen modifications,,,apart from attaching a filter direct to the intake elbow ,,,but then you get hot air from under the hood.
Given that the 320 has the same cold air intake and filter capacity as the 55 AMG ,,,I would think that modification is probably unnecessary and unlikely to yield any significant benefits over the standard set up.

I agree. Do not see any reason why one would want to do that. Since the filter sizes are the same you would not be getting any more air into the engine.
