Key fully turns - No crank

99 clk430 w208 with sudden no start. I don’t have +12v dc to pin 30 on the starter relay. Can’t find a topic talking about what to do if voltage from the battery isn’t there. Any fuse or known area to get damaged I can check? Voltage at battery 12.8 and everything else powers up. Picture shows tester not lit. Pin 87 will show voltage when key is turned over. Been watching forums for years and now officially a member. Thanks for the advice.

12.8V static on the battery is not full test.
If the voltage drops during starting procedure, the computer will not send the power to pin 30.
You have to start troubleshooting from top of the chain, not from the bottom.
Do proper battery test.

Thanks for your response. I did put a Stanley fatmax jump starter on the battery after a long slow charge with no changes. When I had the battery tested before the tow they said it was about 60% charged but didn’t go into detail of amperage available. I’ll replace because the battery is over 8 years old and get let you guys know of any changes.

If the battery has a dead cell, it can act like a big resistor, and even jumping it with a fresh brand new battery won't work. Like Kajtek1 said, check voltage when you turn the key to the start position. If it drops to less than 11v, you have a battery issue. If it doesn't drop much at all, then you have another issue - fuse, relay, etc.

My battery date. 51662KFR 1028 . My guess is November 2012.

Had battery tested today by a local battery shop. They used a load test and a hydrometer. Battery is good to go unfortunately. Am I correct in thinking that pen 30 should have 12 V?

My 2000 clk 430 doesn't start occasionally. When that happens, the gear selector light stays blank. If I turn the key and stop at every indent, it works. My indy said it could be the gear selector switch which is a $1500 dealer only job or the brake switch. He said just to drive it and see how it goes. It all started with a dead battery which threw a 100 codes. It has been working fine for over a month. If I turn the key too fast, sometimes it won't do anything. Then I go back to off and turn the key slowly, it works. Indy told me he sees a lot of this in cars just detailed. If any moisture gets in the gear selector switch it can muck it up. Sometimes temporarily or permanent.

Thanks loneryder I’ll try that this morning. I was kinda worried about that and the first thing I did was get behind the car and try rocking it to hope make contact. Today I’ll post a picture of my dash, I can’t remember if it ever showed it being in park I’m going to download the service manual offline today. Has anyone had luck with them? It will be my first time getting an ecopy vs paper. Hoping it will have a schematic showing how pin 30 on the starter relay should be getting voltage or if I have read that wrong off another form.
I wanna also test the break light switch so the manual I hope can help with that too. Wonder if the transmission board has ever been removed and cleaned or is it blowing components making it not repairable. No Indy in my area and the next dealership is an hour away, I really appreciate the advice. Thanks again

**Clarity on what happened right before the no start. Started car in parking lot and I noticed it felt a bit rough backing out, like it was missing a bit or the mas was throwing errors. Engine light comes on suddenly either before I’m out of reverse or shorty after I get it into drive. Drive 1/8 mile to autozone parking lot thinking they can run it with their obd scanner like I’ve had them do on other cars in the past. They run it and it showed codes for missing on every cylinder. Then I tried starting again and nothing. Towed home, now it’s setting on jack stands in the garage.

Have you been able to clear all the codes?
