Windows and Sunroof opening on their own... Any ideas???

So I was at the beach on Monday, went for a few drinks afterward, and when I got back to the car, the windows were wide open as well as the sunroof. Doors unlocked as well.

That same night I stayed at the gf's house, and when I got up in the morning, same exact thing.

Now I know I wasn't cracking up, and I have had this car for 3 years and I know how to operate the remote. I usually double check when I walk away from the car to see if it's locked.

So after finding my car wide open in the morning, I decided to test it. I closed the windows andlocked the doors, and waited about 5-10 mins. While waiting, I see the door locks pop open, windows and sunroof open right infront of me!

LUCK FOR ME NOTHING WAS STOLEN AT ALL!!! (this includes my wallet and treo which were in plain view!)

Anyone know what this is or is my ride just possesed? I have removed the fuses for the windows until I can figure this all out. Any help is appreciated.

THANKS!!!

My doors kept doing that before I would lock them and then in the morning they would be open. At first I thought it was me, but then I made sure to make a mental note of locking the doors. Luckily this was happening in my driveway. Ever since I disconnected my battery it doesnt happen anymore. But now they wont automatically lock anymore when I leave them open or when I drive off.

Every time the battery is disconnected, the windows reset. Something has trickled your electric to disconnect. As ClkE said, I'd disconnect then reconnect the battery to see if that fixes the problem. Make sure you have the radio code handy.

Similar issue... but reversed!

My 320 was doing something funky as well whereas I would raise the windows and they would roll back about 2"s... looked into the maintenance CD and spoke about resetting by running the convertible top. Did it and problem went away, maybe if you disconnect the battery and then run the system on demand it will reset itself... something else I read here about resetting values??? Worth a try. Good luck!

just called the dealer. he said that after a car has been in an accident, there is a unit that automatically opens the windows and door locks. he said that the relay is probably bad (called it a "control relay") and would cost near $800 to fix.

this is bull$hit. i live in a city and I dont want to chance having the windows roll down in the middle of the night, but a $500 insurance deductable for theft is cheaper than the stealership banging me out for 8 bills

dont know what to do yet.... guess i'll just leave the window fuses out for now.

I have now had the same exact thing happen to me. It started as a minor inconvience - happened once a few months ago as a fluke. Then it happened a couple times more and now is happening roughly every other day.

Did you find a solution to the problem - especially a non-dealer fix?
