I must thank you all for the truckload of information, I have quite a bit to think about now. My next task is to either turn the car back into a 200 (meh), or add everything missing from this car that a proper 280E should have, to finish the job, as it were. It has a 110, therefore it must officially be a 280E, even if it wasn't always.
I am now wondering (what a surprise) about the fuel tank, specifically the capacity of the tank. For the time since I got the car, I had always assumed that the car had the "High-Capacity" fuel tank, due to my assumption that the engine was original. However, with me discovering this new "identity crisis", I wonder if they swapped out the gas tank when they pulled the engine. What indeed is the capacity of the "low-end" fuel tank? More specifically, what does the low-capacity tank look like? I'm only getting warmed up here...
