i have heard such.. and their may be truth in that matter.....but i move forward...this car went from a silly impulse buy that i saw on ebay which was same color and yr of 500sel....said...hah wouldnt it fun to have a coupe version...

ended up getting it after learning some of its back history......and thats right at the same time my SEL developed a knocking noise in motor ( see old thread)

so the sec sat around while gobs of time and $ were put into the SEL ( single family car since new, grey market over to states when i was 7)

after the SEL was pretty much done had to decide what to do with SEC.....dont need it...was gonna just cut losses and sell but compression was good 180psi each cylinder.....so we carry on....decided to build it out....clean it up.....then i was able to get gen 1 body kit from bondavi and macdeity so figured why not paint lowers to match and go all out amg gen 1 tribute like car below
