Just throwing in my two cents here. Three clear coats only. First one kind of a quick dusting. Second one complete coverage but thin coat. Third as thick as you can get it without runs (this one comes with experience).
Also when painting, put the panel in the correct position it will be when affixed to the car (vertical vs. horizontal). Very important especially with metallics. It is not recommended to do a panel on this day then another panel on that day. Color variations will be very noticeable when the panels are later placed side by side. The best way is to paint and clear jambs, undersides of hoods, etc. then assemble the car and do an all over paint job. Silver is also one of the toughest to get to look good. They seem to "tiger stripe" very easily. Your work is really looking good Dave! For some reason my thumbnails are now all showing. ???
