Anyone experience a slow Power Steering Fluid leak? I have an 08' GL 320 CDI with about 65,000 miles on it. I have to add Power Steering Fluid about every 3,000 miles or so. No obvious leaks, no oil spots on my driveway. Anyone else have this problem? If so what was the fix? Thought I'd check here before going to the $$Dealer$$. I read you can use DexIII, I used some DexIV Full Synthetic (DexIII compatible) to top it off. Thanks in advance.
It may also be a leaking high pressure hose - check at the bottom left side of the radiator inside the engine bay (when viewed from standing at the front of the car looking into the engine bay) and you'll see a pipe with a joint that connects the rubber pipe to a metal one - that can be a source of leaks.
I have the same oil leak on my '08 GL450. Mine is coming from the power steering rack where the steering wheel and steering rack join. Take a flashlight and look down past the exhaust manifold and you can visualize. I fixed mine with Lucas Power Steering stop leak from Wal-Mart for $10. Seems it is due to the seals getting worn inside the rack. (Which I might add my MB service mgr suggested to try before I let them replace the entire rack for +-$2,500). It worked!
