Any tips programming my vehicle to open my garage door opener?

Have any of you successfully programmed your vehicle to your garage door opener? I tried using the two suggested methods in the operator manual and no success.

I have programmed my two other vehicles fine, both of them are non MB though.

If you have done this successfully please let me know:
1. Which programming method you used
2. Any tips and suggestions you may have

Just programed mine last night. Hold down the first button on the left side of the mirror then wait for the light to start blinking. Keeping the mirror button pressed you take your garage door opener press down the button that opens the garage and hold it next to the blinking light on the mirror. when the light on the mirror stops blinking then it should be programed

Does your opener have a rolling code? If so there are special instructions for this. I had to do it twice to get it to work with the rolling code. Also make sure the button on the mirror is in programming mode. Good luck.

Try to hold hold your remote as close to the homelink mirror as possible, press desered
Progreming button on the mirror and on your remote( simultaneously ) hold it for like 90 seconds,
Next step is go press learning button on your over head motor unit it could be any color green yellow white or purple in my case,press it and walk fast back to the car I think you have like 30 seconds, press again the button you were trying to program and hold it for 90 seconds again, after doing this two steps it should work, any how this is how I did to my car, if it dosen't work get back to me,

On my 2007 GL450, my MB dealer had to upgrade the "software" for the opener to accept the input info.
