I just signed up to this forum to warn other Mandrus Wheel owners.

IF YOU OWN MANDRUS WHEELS - Immediately contact the shop that installed the wheels for you. Have them look up the length of the lugs that are on your wheels. Have them confirm WITH MANDRUS AND MERCEDES that they are the correct length lugs for your model of car and wheels.

I own a GL 450. America's Tire / Discount Tire installed the WRONG SIZE LUGS on our wheels. One of my wheels BROKE OFF, completely snapped off of my car and flew off, while I was going about 75 on the freeway. ALL FIVE LUGS SNAPPED IN 1/2.

The Mercedes dealership where my car was towed to confirmed that the lugs installed were 5-6mm too short. I then confirmed with two other Mandrus dealers that the wrong size lugs were used.

America's Tire / Discount Tire's computer system generates the wrong size lugs for Mandrus wheels. I'm currently working with their company to initiate a recall. Luckily me and my daughter were unharmed, but I'm very concerned with anyone else that is on the road with the same issue. Since America's Tire / Discount Tire hasn't initiated a recall yet (because it's Thanksgiving holiday they said, and because they're holding off to make sure the issue didn't start with Mandrus' recommended specs). In the mean time, Mercedes has confirmed that the lugs are too short and America's Tire / Discount Tire has confirmed with me that their system says to install that size of lug on my car & wheels.

Please, if you have Mandrus Wheels, immediately check with your installer to confirm with them, Mandrus and your local Mercedes dealership that the correct length lugs are installed on your car.

If you know anyone with these make of wheels (they have an M on the wheels), please pass this information on. Thank you! I'm so anxious knowing that many others are on the road with this same issue and that America's Tire / Discount Tire has not yet initiated a recall.

Please be safe.
