Wheel Suggestions Please

What's up Everyone!

New to BW and I'd like to get some opinions on wheel ideas for my new acquisition. What we have here is a 1981 W123 (280CE). I plan on lowering it 2" for a more evenflow stance. What kind of wheels (style, size, width) would one get for this beautiful vehicle? A million thanks in advance.

I suggest not lowering it until you try out a few sets of wheels. There are lots of great classic looks. But maybe find some pictures of some styles you like and we can help identify them for you.

I'm afraid I can't provide any constructive comments other than my first one. I think the last pictures you posted are of some expensive wheels on cars that are lowered too much for my liking. All those wheels are fine, but I just can't appreciate the lowered look and what that might do to the driving ability and also the value of the vehicle. I'm sorry, I'm just not in that camp.

Maybe try stanceworks and the general w123 forum here on Benzworld.

Ok then let's say I don't lower the car. What type/size of wheels and tires can you suggest without much modification and without tire rub?

Me? Lots of people like 16" on w123. AMG 5-spoke ats brand in 8x16 et11, but lots of folks don't like that wide on the front and will do a staggered setup with 7x16 et23. There are lots of weave wheels, Lorinser, and just lots of options. That's why I was saying find a look you like and let us know.

The two setups you show above are multi-piece wheels, maybe Gotti and then an abbreviation I can't think of right now for the second car. I am guessing the general look you like there is a polished lip and painted wheel face. I think most period-correct 16" options will be able to get you that. Multi-piece wheels of course will cost more but provide more endless options when you go with something common like a BBS RS wheel. But they are harder to keep clean with all the bolts.

Some dude mentioned the below to me and I am simply getting educated as to how wheels on W123s work. Would the attachment below work?
