can anyone help me got sprinter 2004 which starts fine every time then will cut out as u drive away with edc light coming on then starts again no edc then same problem changed pressure regulator valve to no avail has anyone got any ideas on this please
I have the very same problem the truck runs fine and then suddenly loss of power and the EDC light comes on if I then switch the key on off an ON again it runs fine. I have replaced the control unit had the injectors tested and calibrated changed the hp pump but got it back today and did the same thing. I noticed that when it labours a bit in a high gear just before or as the turbo boosts the the power cut and the EDS comes on. I have spent a fortune and the problem does not seem to gao away
Could anyone please help or make suggestions on what I need to check and in what sequence
Thanks
OK Im not at the vehicle so stay with me. on top of the filter is a black bi valve with in let and out let, remove the valve and check to see if it looks perfect onr not, lubricat the seal with lubricant and slowly twisting back and forth ,repalce the valve,( what happens is the seal moves when you put the valve on, and when removed it appears to be ok) bleed the system and start the engine and allow to get to normal temp. press the clutch once and rev to max for 1 min, allow to idle and check for air.
another cause is inside the tank the is a tiny mesh filter , over time the bowl fills with dirt and restricts flows, so when the engine trys to pull fuel it cant, so pull air from the easiest souce.
I prsume that a leak test has been carried out on the injectors.
Please let me know how you get on
have done injector tests fine and carried out the filter advice thats not solved it yet going to look at the tank sender unit and and mesh filter next will let u know how it goes. also the edc still keeps bringing up low pressure codes could this mean the high pressure pump?
there should be no bubbles at all in the line, it will throw up rail pressure codesa for a whole host of reasons it is ill advised to suspect the high pressure pump at this stage, , if you remove the pipe form the bi valve on the filter and block it, using a mity vac, on the line form the center of the filter , test for leaks.
alternative put a fresh line into a can of diesel to the filter this will save you taking the tank off
just been gonig thru all air in fuel faults on the vito forum and i can see now from your comments that theres more orings and valves around the filter to check for leaks before even thinking about pumps etc many thanks for keepin me on this trail
