This is a common problem on Sprinters, there is no need to replace any parts or visit your MB dealer.
I can repair the Errors in both the Ecu And Wsp at a resonable cost.
0n 5 cyl. 2.7 models the Ecu light will be on after repair this can be turned off with a star machine,We will tell you how.
This does not affect 2.2 4 cyl models.
usulaly after paying to have the problem diagnosed at a dealer they will probably sell you a WSP, then An Ecu, OUch....... thats expensive.
yOU CAN POST THE PARTS TO US AND WE WILL SEND THEM BACK REPAIRED
You seem to imply every time a dealer replaces a WSP they say you need a ECU.
Thats nots the case, i admit its seems a reocurring thing but some WSPs can be changed with out the need of a new ECU after.
Thank you, I know you can repalce the Wsp on its own, I do it occasionly, but in most cases Ive seen that the dealer has tryed to repalce the Wsp only to find out that its the Ecu, Which is what I reapir, Ive been working on Sprinters in excess of 10 yrs and travel around the country fixing them, Try typing Sprinter Ecu Wsp into Ebay, you will find the link
If you plug on the Star Machine, it will always poit to the key or Wsp, The Star doesnt recognise the fault as the Ecu, So Dealers usually replace it as a last resort, as it wouldnt be anything else, unless the can lines were down.
A compact 4 is only as good as the person using it, im employed by Merc Dealers to do jobs with the same equipment as they use but like Bruce, 10yrs of experience. Personally i go around the country reprogramming new W.S.P. units, unlike Bruce who repairs the units. Often im called as a customer has a vehicle in Mercs and been quoted £1200 for a new ecu and wsp, so, they google it and come across me. On 11 occassions iv diagnosed, replaced the W.S.P. woke up the ECU and its been fine. Again, some peoples experience doesnt extend to knowing the ECU goes to sleep, so they fit a ECU.
One fault can throw up maybe 6 different fault codes, how you interpret that, is all experience, not a computer....... www.williamsdiesels.com
