EDC Light came on and lost all power on motorway 311cdi

Was driving my 2003 140,000 miles 311cdi on the motorway foot to the floor as I usually do (the van has been restricted to 70mph being an ex DHL van).

Suddenly feel loss of power and notice the EDC light comes on. No fuel at all seems to be getting to the engine.

Pulled over on the hard shoulder and eventually the AA came to recover me. The diagnostics guy checked and told me that fuel is getting past the fuel pump and fuel filter.

Can anyone suggest the next steps..does this suggest something wrong with my injectors or plugs?

I am worried that as this is an electronic thing I will have to go to a mercedes garage to get it fixed and I can't really afford mercedes prices. When I spoke to a merc garage about getting my 70mph restrictor taken off they said that there is a £100 charge as soon as they plug in the computer to the ECU as they pay mercdes something like £70,000 a year for the liscence to use the compter!

I took this to a merc garage and they plugged in the diagnostic computer.

Problem was traced back to wires to the injectors had been damaged.
