My 316cdi 2002 is fitted with an eberspacher hydronic D5WS heater. Its been fitted from new and heats the engine coolent so as to get hot air in the cab more quickly and to maintain engine temp on very cold days.
My question is has any one else had problems/faults with this heater and where did you go to get it fixed or serviced. As its a MB fitted heater its been programed so as my local Eberspacher agent cant access the electronics and my MB dealer says if it dont work they would replace the heater. As they cost in excess of £900 I dont want to go that route.
Oh should have said the heater fails to do anything when you turn it on, however according to Eberspacher if the heater fails to ignite 3 times in a row it goes into shutdown mode till a repair and reset is carried out.
