| 311Cdi Overfuelling and poor starting. Hi, my first post here, hoping someone can help.
I have a 52plate sprinter 311Cdi with just shy of 140k on the clock. about 4,000 miles ago (about 6 weeks) i had a set of 4 new injectors fitted to this vehicle as 1 was causing constant problems and 2 of the other 3 had brought up fault codes too. All was running well until :
Last Saturday afternoon i started the van (outside temp about 3 or 4 degrees) and on setting off the van coughs splutters misfire and then shoots off like a rocket piling black smoke out of the back and rattling / knocking like an old transit or even worse if such a thing be possible.
I had the thing transported home by my recovery company (200miles) and have taken it to a local garage. The van ran fine getting it off the truck and parking it up outside my house. It was left overnight however and started acting up on turning the key when i came to take it to the garage. Very poor starting, 2 to 3 seconds of turning over which is VERY bad for this van, even in winter.
It played up alot on the way to the garage which is 7 miles of winding roads away but the more i travelled the better it got until i got nearly there and it was causing no problems at all.
This was wednesday morning (busy garage) and its been there since, they can't find what's wrong with it. Fault codes were in their plenty but nothing significant.
Not sure what to do from here on in.
Fuel rail sensor, is there some sensor that operates when the engine is cold, could this be faulty and throwing fuel in like there's no tomorrow? Turbo issue? A sign saying buy a new van?
Thanks in advance.
