I have a 2004 mercedes sprinter with sprint shift gearbox. Is there anybody out there that has replaced a clutch.I have heard that when you remove the gearbox that the gears have to be re set by mercedes any information would help.
Hi, I haven't personally replaced a clutch yet on the sprintshift transmission but have fixed many other problems and I can tell you that the clutch slipping point and fully opened and closed positions as well as the coefficient of friction will need to be re-learnt by the transmission control unit. The gear positions should not be altered by a clutch replacement. You also need to replace the dual mass flywheel and it would be silly to not replace the center bearing/hydraulic actuator while it's all apart. The clutch settings need to be programmed by the Mercedes Star Diagnosis software/hardware.
