316CDI No Instrument light when running

Hi

Just bought a used 2004 Sprinter 316CDI privatly.

Engine runs like a dream, and the car seemd fresh, but after driving it home. (300 km) I realized it had a few smaller issues.


1.
For some reason the instrument light is not on when the car is running.

Before I start the car it comes on with the headlight switch, but once the car is started it goes off. (at first i thought it was an issue with the dimmer but that works fine, while the car is not running)

2. The Air selector/distributor dial, where you select how to direct the air (Windshield, middle or feet.) Does not turn, but seems totally stuck.


Any help on what to test/loook for or do is appriciated.
