i was out last night in Gloucestershire and was driving down some counrty lanes. All of a sudden i hit a flood but couldnt slow down in time. The water came up over the headlights and the engine sucked in a load of water causing the engine to die.
Eventually i got it restarted but it poured lots of smoke out the exhaust for a while and was running rough. The clutch also felt weird like it had no grip. had to keep the revs high to keep the engine running but this cleared the closer i got to home and eventually was running like normal, no hesitation or smoke. Got home and restarted the engine, no problems.
Went out this morning and started it, the smoke poured out of the exhaust and it was like the enginge was missing and sounded like a tractor, no amount of revs cleared it. So i thought i would try taking it round the block to try and clear it, it wouldn't go into gear at all!
Started it in gear and it drove but would the clutch would not disengage. Also found mayo in engine oil. Is it a safe bet that my van is no more?
Also my starter motor is on its way out from all the effort trying to start it in the flood
Someone cheer me up, I fear I may have to buy a transit if it is beyond repair!!!
