How many miles is too many for a Sprinter?

We're looking at buying a second hand sprinter, probably 3-4 years old, and have noticed quite some variation in miles. How long do these engines last and what's reasonable for a 3-4 year old van?

I have maintained two 05 Sprinters for a customer since they were new. They're used commercially and have about 65,000 miles on them. No major engine trouble yet. Another customer has several that are about 6 years old with around 200,000 miles logged. They are well maintained delivery vans and seem to running strong.
Hope this helps.

My 02 316cdi has 150000 on the clock gets used and abused daily, over loaded and thrashed, serviced whenever the computer says its needed usually every 20000 miles and the engine sounds and runs like new.

The engine's pretty bulletproof as long as it is serviced regularly. Mate of mine's sprinter (311) has 280,000 on the clock and the engines still 100%.

Hi guys, 316 CDi, 2001 LWB. Goes like a train, little bit smoky, (little bit) 557,000 miles.
Feels like it's good for the same again!

I look after a few with 200,000 miles on the clock, no major problems, leaking injector seals are common, look for full service history.
